Remembrance of the 28th Annivrsary of Nov’84 Carnage to Pay homage to martyrs.
During the Public Meeting held on 2nd June 2012 on the 28th Remembrance Day of Operation Blue Star and to Pay homage to Martyrs, many young Sikhs expressed the views that a Seminar on ‘Operation Blue Star -: Facts and Effects’ be held. Accordingly Seminar was held on 30th June 2012.
During the Seminar many speakers and youth expressed that as govt. has not taken any action to punish the guilty of Nov’84 Carnage and not even one person has been suitably punished, we should hold multiple programmes to bring in focus the “Forgotten Citizen 1984” during October / November 2012 while remembering Nov’84 Carnage.
The multiple programmes which were planned and has been executed are:
(i) Photo-cum-Painting Exhibition was held from 21st Oct. 2012 to 3rd Nov. 2012 at various cities in Punjab & different place in Delhi – there was spontaneous and great response amongst Sikhs / non-sikhs to vist this exhibition and see the horrors of 1984.
(ii) Petition to be sent to Prime Minister of India to punish the guilty of Nov’84 Carnage. Thousands of persons have signed this petition. Prominent personalities who have signed included Justice Krishna Iyer, Justice Rajinder Sachar, Sh. Kuldip Nayar, S.Tarlochan Singh–IAS (Retd.), S. Buta Singh- Former Home Minister.
(iii) Protests and Candle Light Vigil at Jantar Mantar on 3rd November 2012 from 10 AM to 7 PM.
(iv) Seminar on “Effective Legislation against Communal and Sectarian Violence” on 4th November 2012 will be held at Indian Law Institute opp. Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.
(v) On 10th November 2012, People’s Court to be addressed by Retired Judges, Senior Advocates, Scholars, Prominent persons and representatives of various organizations.
Photo-cum-painting exhibition consisting of 14 large, heavy 6’ x 8’ hoardings on which beautifully framed more than 70 photoes, paintings, prominent Affidavits, extracts of Commission Reports and names of 2733 persons (as accepted by govt.) killed in Delhi in Nov’84 are displayed. Senior members of Lok Raj Sangathan and Bachpan Bachao Andolan were present during inauguration of exhibition at Amritsar and other cities of Punjab. A large number of their members were also present daily at various places, where the exhibition was displayed in Punjab and Delhi.
Hundreds of young Sikhs Volunteers belonging to various Colleges, Better Sikh School, Sikh Helping Sikh, Sikhi Sidak and Sukriet Trust worked day & night to carry the exhibition from one place to other, organize it and were physically present during the exhibition at different location.
