As a part of the decision of the All India Kisan Coordination Committee of Thoothukudi district to organise a tractor and two-wheeler rally to demand the withdrawal of the farm bills and in support of the farmer agitation in Delhi, farmers of the district came together in Kovilpatti on 26th January. The district police refused to give permission for a tractor rally. So hundreds of farmers took out two-wheelers and went ahead with the rally. Participant organisations included AIKS, Thamizhnadu Vivasayigal Sangam, Thamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangam, CITU, INTUC, and AITUC. Among the speakers were Saravana Muthuvel, State Vice President of Thamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangam.

Besides the demand to withdraw the farm bills, the farmers also demanded immediate settlement of crop insurance dues and compensation for crops destroyed due to drought.
