The 7th All India Convention of Lok Raj Sangathan was successfully concluded on 2nd October 2017 in Delhi. Shri S. Raghavan, the President of LRS welcomed the participants in the Convention – members of LRS and other organisations who work with Lok Raj Sangathan. Justice Hosbet Suresh, Honorary Chairperson of LRS presided over the proceedings. The President then announced the dissolution of the present All-India Council and tabled the agenda for approval by the Convention.
The Report of the AIC was presented by the Convenor of LRS, Shri Prakash Rao to the Convention, which covered the work of the previous five years since the last Convention. The Report recognized the critical situation facing the Indian people at this time, the dangers and attacks that threaten them, the dire problems they face. It put forward the important summation of Lok Raj Sangathan that the root cause of all these problems lies in the marginalisaiton of people from power, and that the resolution of the problems of the people requires the political empowerment of people. The Report also placed before the Convention the challenges facing the movement for empowerment of the people in the coming period.
The presentation of the Report was followed by more than 3 hours of discussion through interventions of many participants in the Convention. At the end of these deliberations, the Convention unanimously adopted the Report and two other resolution tabled by the Presidium. This was followed by elections to the new AIC, the President and other office bearers of the organization. The Convention concluded with the rousing speech of the re-elected President that expressed confidence that the work of LRS would advance even faster in the coming years.
