In a Dharana organised by Lok Raj Sangathan on 27th July 2016 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, residents including students of various jhuggi-jhopari, unauthorised slum and resettlement colonies came in their hundreds despite pouring rains to place their demand that DJB must give them piped water supply connection at their homes.
Addressing the Dharana, all the speakers, in one voice, demanded that the Delhi Government and the Central Government must end the policy of not giving DJB connections to supply water to residents of these colonies as their legal right.
Among those who addressed the Dharana were President of LRS, Shri S Raghavan, Comrade Santosh Kumar of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, Dr. Sanjiv Chibber of the Naya Daur Party, Human Rights Activist, Shri N D Pancholi, Advocate Shahid Ali, Advocate Aslam from Social Democratic party, Shri Gopal Singh, Lt Col A P Singh and many many women, men and youth from various colonies of Delhi deprived of piped water connection. A street play was enacted by the artists of Samgra Bharat Natya Manch.
