Lok Raj Sangathan condemns the bomb blasts at the airport and the metro in Brussels, capital of Belgium, on March 22, 2016. The blasts resulted in the death of 34 persons and grievously injured around 300 or more people. LRS extends its deep sympathies to the families of all those who have suffered as a result of such a heinous crime.
These crimes are unjustifiable. They have as their target, the working people, who are not in any way responsible for the geopolitics, terrorism and counter terrorism between states and state sponsored groups.
It is very important that we think and raise legitimate questions as to what lies behind the brutal killings in Brussels, Paris and other places? Who is really behind these repeated attacks and to what end? For instance, how many of us know that Belgium is Europe’s per capita leading supplier of foreign fighters to the IS! Brussels is also the headquarters of the European Commission which has been imposing stringent austerity measures and budget cuts on governments which are a part of the European Union. In recent years, Brussels has witnessed massive demonstrations against these austerity measures. A meeting of defence ministers of the NATO alliance met in Brussels last year and decided to intensify war preparations. The bomb blasts have occurred in the midst of these feverish war preparations and austerity measures in Brussels. All these facts show that we should analyse these events with a cool head and not fall prey blindly to the propaganda of those in power across the world.
