The Office of Assistant Agriculture Commissioner of Ottapidaram Taluk in Tuticorin district of Tamilnadu, provided foundation/certified seeds to farmers of Ottanatham village to produce quality seeds for crop production on a large scale. The farmers sowed these seeds in their land and harvested a large quantity of quality seeds of urad and moong dal.
But officials have been refusing to procure these seeds after the farmers have invested a lot of money and effort. The farmers have approached the district collector to take immediate action on this.
Recently a delegation of Tamilnadu Peasants Union (Thamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangam) visited New Delhi and submitted a memorandum to the Union Agriculture Minister.
