A new Statewide platform Posco Pratirodh Jan Sangharsh Mancha (PPJSM) has been formed against Posco Project and attack on democratic movements, forceful land acquisition, to remove Police forces from Govindpur, to release Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) leader Abhay Sahoo, to release PPSS leader Laxman Pramanik, to arrest IDCO’s Sangram Mahapatra, to discard Special Economic Zones (SEZs) from Odisha, not to let Mahanadi water to Posco or any other private firm, not to allow any Private port at Jatadhara for Posco, not to allow the loot of natural/mineral resources at Khandadhara, to take back all false and fabricated cases of anti-Posco movt. and other peoples’ movt. and against activists of democratic movements throughout the State and to severely punish Police who attack intentionally journalists in Lower Suktel and Bhubaneswar reporting from movements.
PPJSM has called for and started a demonstration for indefinite period at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar. Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) spokesperson Prasanta Paikaray inaugurated the demonstration today . The people of Jagasinghpur have been struggling since eight years o protect their life and livelihood which largely depends on the betel vines, rice and fish. An elected Government, instead of respecting their democratic demands, has been using Police force and hired goons to suppress them. They have been forcefully kept in open jail. Anyone who comes out is arrested. Four people have been martyred.
Thousands of false cases in the names of hundreds of people. In a small village, hundreds of armed Police have created a choking environment. In spite of these, people are struggling. Government, bureaucracy, Police – all have become agents of Posco. The collector and the S.P in Jagasinghpur have been continuously attacking the people.
