Lok Raj Sangathan hosted the meeting of the convenors committee of the "Right to Work Campaign" in Delhi on August 28-29.The meeting had been called to take stock of the campaign and plan future course of action. Prakash Rao, Convenor of the LRS chaired the two day meeting, which was attended amongst others by representatives from the Hawkers Union, the Peoples Front, the Samajik Nyaya Morcha, and the Mazdoor Parishad.
Mona Sur, the Convenor of the Campaign, presented a detailed report on the progress of the campaign through a series of meetings in Kanpur, Kolkota, Bangalore, Kochi, Lucknow and Basti. He mentioned that the Campaign had decided on a signature petition in which a lakh signatures would be collected along with a contribution of Rupee 1. This petition was planned to be submitted in Janaury to the President as well as to all members of parliament.
It was decided that the next meeting of the Campaign would be held in Kolkota during November 28-29, which would be hosted by the Hawkers Federation. It was also decided that a 10 day yatra would be organised in Uttar Pradesh in the first half of February 2007 to popularise the campaign in the run up to the forth coming assembly elections in that state. It was also decided that a mass rally would be organised in front of parliament on March 5, 2007 during the budget session of parliament.
