- Fought against displacement without rehabilitation and just policy for the infrastructure project affected people resulted in false cases against him
- Challenged illegal grab of land by mafia in Bandra Kurla complex which is gold
Raj Awasti was arrested on January 3, 2006 under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981 – No Bail is allowed under this ACT
