Dear friend,

The Annual Convention of the Lok Raj Sangathan (formerly Committee for People’s Empowerment) will be held in New Delhi, Sunday, January 19, 2003.

The venue of the Convention will be the Auditorium in the Indian Social Institute, Lodhi Institutional Area. The Convention will be between the hours 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.

The Convention will receive and deliberate on the report of the Central Executive Committee of the Lok Raj Sangathan on the international and national situation and the work of the Lok Raj Sangathan since its last Convention, held in Mumbai on September 9, 2001.

The Convention will assess the problems and prospects for the movement for empowerment of the Indian people in the face of the challenges confronting our people today.

The Convention will chalk out the plan of action for the year 2003 in terms of building the united front of workers, peasants, women and youth and all the exploited and disadvantaged for ending their present state of marginalisation and ensuring their empowerment.

The Convention of the Lok Raj Sangathan will initiate measures to build and strengthen the Lok Raj Sangathan in the different states.

The Convention will elect the new Central Executive Committee.

Please intimate the Convenor through post/E-Mail about your participation in the Convention. For out station members, it will be good to plan to arrive in Delhi on January the 18th. If you need assistance in organising accommodation on the 18th evening, please let us know by return mail at the earliest.
