On the killings of fishermen from Tamil Nadu by the Sri Lankan Navy

There have been reports in the media of the deaths of two fishermen at the hands of the Sri Lankan Navy, after they strayed into the waters of Sri Lanka in January 2011.  These actions of the Sri Lankan Navy must be condemned in no uncertain terms.  The Government of India, on the other hand, has asked for details of the events and has not come out strongly against these atrocities.

A million tonnes grains rot while millions remain hungry

Image removed.What can one say about a society where 100's of millions of people go hungry to bed everyday and where recently a 1000 million kilograms grains, stored in government godowns, was found to be damaged and rotten? This is a massive amount of grains; sufficient to actually feed the starving for months! Despite India being considered as a global power, how can we have any self respect as a country if majority of our people are unable to afford two square meals a day?
