ThumbnailAt the outset, I compliment the organisers of this Convention. This large gathering reflects how LRS has grown, and the presence of so many youngsters shows how we have developed and the need to fight for true democracy.

Today we have a democracy that reflects that even after 70 years, 77 per cent of the people are poor, and large numbers have no health care, no education. Our Constitution says that it is for the people, but what is the reality? Can we call the current system a real democracy?

In a bizarre and sickening environment, the execution of Yakub Memon, the sole convict in the 1993 Bombay blasts case took place in the morning of July 30, 2015 at Nagpur jail. The weeks preceding this event polarized `civil society' with many absolutely convinced of his guilt and baying for blood like in the fabled fox-hunts of England, while there were others who were convinced that he was an innocent man who had been framed with fabricated evidence.

31 Years of Shame – November 84' Carnage, 31 Km Cycle Rally on 11 April 2015

Image removed.Forgotten Citizens 1984 justice campaign organised a cycle rally on 11 April 2015 from the Metro station at Tilak Nagar, New Delhi. The campaign was carried out under the slogan "31 Years of Shame – Nov. 84 Carnage", to highlight the struggle demanding justice for the victims of the 1984 genocide of Sikhs in Delhi.

We mourn the passing away of Justice Siraj Mehfuz Daud

On May 10, 2010, Justice Siraj Mehfuz Daud breathed his last in Nagpur. The All India Council of the Lok Raj Sangathan mourns the passing away of Justice Daud. At the time of his death, Justice Daud was the Vice President of Lok Raj Sangathan.
