ThumbnailThe Rajasthan government has launched a witch-hunt to arrest and intimidate the leaders of the doctors’ ongoing struggle in that state. On December 15-16 the police cracked down on doctors working in government run hospitals and health care centers in almost all towns and villages across the state. At least 60 doctors were reported to have been picked up from their residences and workplaces and arrested. Many other doctors have been forced to go into hiding to evade arrest.

Peasants belonging to Jambulingapuram, Kudirai Kulam and Chillong Kulam villages took active part in this meeting. Besides, leaders and activists of Communist Ghadar Party, Workers Unity Movement and Unorganized Workers Federation also took part in this meeting.

Naroda Patiya Judgment – One step forward, many more to go!

Exactly a decade after an estimated 97 people were killed in a massacre at Naroda Patiya area of Ahmedabad, during the 2002 Gujarat genocide, a special court has sentenced 31 people to life imprisonment. The highlight of the sentence is that the guilty include sitting BJP Member of Legislative Assembly and former Minister in the Narendra Modi government, Maya Kodnani. It should be recalled that she was appointed minister for Women and Child Welfare just two months after supervising the rape and murder of nearly a hundred women, children and men!

The All India Council of the Lok Raj Sangathan met on 22nd July 2012 in New Delhi. Members from Delhi, Haryana, Himachal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and UP were present. The meeting started promptly at 10 AM and completed its agenda just before 5 PM. A very serious and enthusiastic atmosphere pervaded the entire duration of the meeting.

Some of them had their ageing parents accompanying, some of who have themselves served the sector earlier. They are supposed to be in air, but now they have been grounded, just like the airline they have been serving with passion, dedication, and commitment, doing their best to ensure safety of the passengers. If you pass by them in a market place, you may not identify them, because there are just one of us, having the similar concerns of family, children's education, and parent’s health, livelihood and career.

Image removed.Air India pilots strike entered 48th day, with chain hunger strike in Delhi and Mumbai. Following sacking of more than 100 colleagues by the adamant management and derecognizing of their union, Indian Pilots’ Guild (IPG), more than 440 pilots have been on strike from May 2012, demanding resolution of various issues including regular payment of their salaries, and parity in career progression.

Image removed.Workers, peasants, students and youth organised and participated in a militant sabha held in Nohar town to mark the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The meeting was organised by the Lok Raj Sangathan Nohar Committee.
