Submitted by admin on Fri, 2016-03-25 17:20

Lok Raj Sangathan condemns the bomb blasts at the airport and the metro in Brussels, capital of Belgium, on March 22, 2016. The blasts resulted in the death of 34 persons and grievously injured around 300 or more people. LRS extends its deep sympathies to the families of all those who have suffered as a result of such a heinous crime.

Over the past ten days, we have watched with increasing concern, a systematic whipping up of passions targeted against student activists of Jawaharlal Nehru University. Six students of the University have been charged with sedition. The Union Home Minister and other ministers of the BJP Government, the Delhi Police Chief, and some of the main television channels have cynically collaborated to portray these students as "terrorists", agents of Pakistan, anti-nationals, and the worst kind of criminals.

Lok Raj Sangathan condemns the use of force by the government against ex-servicemen protesting at Jantar Mantar

Submitted by admin on Mon, 2015-08-17 08:34

Ex-servicemen have been demanding "one rank, one pension" for a long time and Prime Minister Modi had promised to fulfill this demand as one of his election promises. However, more than a year has passed after Modi government was installed and no concrete action has been taken yet. The ex-servicemen have escalated their struggle and for the last two months they have been holding a relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. On 14th August the Delhi Police tried to forcefully remove the protesting ex-servicemen from Jantar Mantar, citing Independence day security arrangements. It is well known that government uses every excuse to forcibly disrupt people's protest actions even when they are being conducted peacefully.

Statement of Lok Raj Sangathan, 11 August 2015: Jai Kisan Abhiyan was launched by Swaraj Abhiyan in which hundreds of farmers and concerned people joined a tractor march from Thikriwal village of Barnala District of Punjab to Delhi through Haryana and UP. The tractor march reached Delhi border on Sunday, 9th August 2015 at Kapasheda. Delhi police denied them permission to drive the tractors inside Delhi so hundreds of the demonstrators had to walk on foot to Jantar Mantar where a rally was organised on 10th August to highlight the plight of the farmers. After the rally in Jantar Mantar, the demonstrators wanted to send a delegation of 20 women who had come from Maharashtra to take kalashs containing soil from thousands of villages across India to Race Course area. They want a memorial to be built for the country to remember the 300,000 farmers who have been forced to commit suicide.
