Bhadrak Riots: OHRC seeks Report from Govt

Political Forum conducts a vigorous appraisal of Indian democracy

A Political Forum was organised by Lok Raj SangaThumbnailan entitled, "Balance Sheet of Indian Democracy; Do People have Political Power?" on 28 May 2017 in New Delhi. Many organisations, activists and students, including a large number of students studying Law and Human Rights from various colleges and universities across India who are currently pursuing their internships in Delhi, attended this Forum and actively took part in it. Apart from the President of LRS, others who spoke in the Forum included Shri Inamur Rehman of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Comrade Sheomangal Siddhantkar of the Communist Party of India Marxist-Leninist (New Proletarian), Shri Harminder Singh of the United Sikh Mission and many young activists and students.

According to a newspaper report on May 3, a youth from Kanpur has accused the Anti-Terrorist Squad and National Investigation Agency officers of torturing him, trying to falsely implicate him in terrorism cases and link him to a suspected terrorist who was killed in an "encounter” during the Uttar Pradesh elections earlier this year.

Kashmir: Will the path followed by the government lead to peace and justice?

A few days ago, the terrifying video clip of a youth tied to the front of an army jeep once again brought to fore the path being followed by the government in Kashmir. Only barbaric armies totally alienated from the people can stoop to using hapless humans as shields – that too when they are armed to the teeth and their adversaries are supposedly citizens of their own country. There have been protests from all quarters about this barbarity and utterly inhuman treatment.
