ThumbnailNot a day goes by without the drum beats of war being sounded in distant Washington and / or New York, at one forum or another by the United States of America (USA) against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), also known popularly as North Korea. The two countries of North and South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea (ROK) have been one nation through millennia of history. Thus, it is no surprise that there is a perennial impulse towards a unification of the peoples of the two countries, which has not been permitted to happen essentially by the USA, which has a large army stationed on the soil of South Korea.

ThumbnailCondemning the unjustified increase in bus fare hike in Tamilnadu, a joint demonstration was held on January 30 at Valluvar Kottam under the banner of Nermai Ani. The demonstration was organised under the initiative of Desiya Makkal Sakti Katchi, one of the constituents of Nermai Ani. Other participants included Makkal Nal vazhvu Katchi, Valamaana Thamizhagam Katchi, Gandhiya Samadharma Iyakkam, Lok Raj Sangathan, unorganized workers union and others.

ThumbnailIt was indeed a happy and proud moment for the IT professionals of Maharashtra when on 13th January 2018, in a press conference it was declared that their union Forum for I.T. Employees (FITE) has been registered as a union in Maharashtra. Consistent and brave efforts of several IT professionals from Pune over the last six months beginning with a successful meeting organized by FITE and the Maharashtra Council of Lok Raj Sangathan on 8th July 2017 in Pune, finally culminated in getting the union registered.

However, the repression against people is still continuing. On December 19th, 2017, police arrested two villagers under various charges, and put them behind bars. ThumbnailThe Rajasthan government has launched a witch-hunt to arrest and intimidate the leaders of the doctors’ ongoing struggle in that state. On December 15-16 the police cracked down on doctors working in government run hospitals and health care centers in almost all towns and villages across the state. At least 60 doctors were reported to have been picked up from their residences and workplaces and arrested. Many other doctors have been forced to go into hiding to evade arrest.

ThumbnailOn 19th December 2017, Hind Naujawan Ekta Sabha organised a public meeting in Ramgarh, Rajasthan to mark 90th anniversary of the martyrdom of the youth who had dared to challenge the British by looting the British treasury from a train near Kakori, UP. The train robbery incident was organised by the Hindostan Republican Association (HRA) and took place on 9th August 1925. The colonial government had awarded death punishment to Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri in this case.

Now bouncers are being used to throw out IT Professionals!

ThumbnailIn December 2017, Verizon Data Services India threw out almost 1000 IT professionals. In the last 6 months as more and more IT companies started throwing out its employees, the employees also started raising their voices individually and also by joining some Union or the other. Employees also started using legal means to challenge the illegal terminations. One employee who was sacked from Tech Mahindra recorded his conversation with the HR executive which became viral exposing the manner and reasons for sacking IT professionals. That forced Anand Mahindra, the chieftain of Tech Mahindra to publically apologize. But corporate houses are well experienced to handle such opposition, especially when the employees are not organized.
